Welcome to Around the World, The Ultimate Guide to Kansas City's Theme Park. Worlds of Fun was built by Hunt Midwest and opened for the first time on May 26, 1973. Worlds of Fun was designed by Hollywood Art Director turned famous amusement park designer, Randall Duell, also famous for designing the layout of Six Flags over Texas and the two Great America parks. Worlds of Fun is themed to Jules Verne's "Around the World in 80 Days" and follows the international theme in its five worlds, Scandinavia, The Orient, Americana, Europa and Africa.

In June 1995, the park was bought by Cedar Fair L.P. who currently owns and operates the park. In November 2007, Around the World marked its 10th Anniversary online and continues to be the internet's most comprehensive guide to Worlds of Fun's park history and attractions.
